First Time Detailing a Cybertruck in Orlando, Florida

I’ve worked on everything from exotic sports cars to rugged off-road vehicles, but a 2024 Tesla Cybertruck was unlike anything else. Here’s how it went.

Pre-wash inspection

Before diving into the wash, I always give the vehicle a thorough inspection. The Cybertruck’s angular design and large surfaces need extra attention so that dirt, road grime and minor imperfections are caught before cleaning starts.

  • Exterior material: this Cybertruck had a matte vinyl wrap, so a pH-neutral soap was essential. Harsher chemicals can stain vinyl.
  • Wheels: the massive tires and rims collect brake dust and road grime, so they needed special attention.

The importance of proper soap and lubrication

After a thorough rinse, I applied a pH-balanced soap with a foam cannon, which cleaned the matte vinyl safely without streaks. On a vehicle this size, a foam cannon combined with a high-quality, well-lubricated soap is a lifesaver.

In Orlando’s humid climate it’s important to work quickly so water spots don’t dry on the surface. The foam cleans and lubricates at the same time, which helps prevent scratches.

Hand wash for maximum detail

Despite its futuristic look, the Cybertruck still needs an old-school hand wash. I used the two-bucket method with grit guards and a soft microfiber mitt to avoid marring the vinyl and stainless steel.

The massive windshield was one of the biggest challenges — it’s among the largest on any vehicle, picks up a lot of dust, and reaching all the way across takes patience. A long-handled window tool makes it much easier.

Tackling the interior

  • Seats: a vegan leather cleaner and conditioner keeps them soft and helps prevent cracking in Orlando’s heat.
  • Touchscreen: a screen-safe cleaner removed fingerprints for a streak-free finish.
  • All-weather mats: removed, washed with soap, and the rest of the cabin vacuumed.

Wheels and tires

The owner asked for no tire dressing, having had problems with “slinging” — when dressing isn’t wiped down properly and splatters onto the paint. Instead, I focused on cleaning the rims thoroughly and used a metal polish to bring out their natural shine.

Challenges worth knowing about

  • Scratch sensitivity: the vinyl wrap scratches easily. The owner had made a mark worse by trying to buff it by hand, so I avoided anything abrasive.
  • The windshield: without the right tools, reaching every corner is hard work.

Detailing in Orlando’s climate

Heat, humidity and frequent rain mean vehicles like the Cybertruck need regular cleaning and protection. A ceramic coating plus maintenance with pH-balanced products keeps the truck in top condition.

It was an exciting first: the right products, tools and techniques delivered a pristine finish, and the client was thrilled. Whether you’re driving through Downtown Orlando, cruising around Lake Eola or heading out on a road trip, regular detailing will keep a Cybertruck in showroom condition for years.
