Powder coating questions
What is powder coating and is it better than paint?
Powder coating is a dry finishing process: colored powder is applied electrostatically to metal and baked on, melting into a smooth, hard finish. It contains no solvents and forms a thicker coat that resists chipping, scratching and fading better than regular liquid paint — ideal for wheels, frames and parts that face harsh conditions.
Which parts can be powder coated?
Almost any metal part that can handle the curing oven (around 400°F). For cars: wheels, brake calipers, valve covers, intake manifolds, springs, brackets, bumpers and suspension parts. For motorcycles: frames, wheels, swingarms, handlebars, engine covers, foot pegs, exhaust shields and small parts. Not sure? Just ask.
How durable is it on wheels and bike parts?
Very. The cured powder resists chips from road debris, scratches, humidity and UV and won’t peel or flake when properly applied. It also shields against rust and corrosion — a big advantage in Florida. Wash with mild soap and water and it stays glossy for years.
How long does it take?
Wheel sets on our price list take two days max. Larger projects usually take 5 to 7 business days. Need it sooner? Ask about our one-day black wheel service or tell us your deadline.
What colors and finishes can I choose?
Hundreds of shades in gloss, satin, matte, textured, metallic flake, candy, pearlescent and more. We stock popular RAL colors, can special-order custom powders, and can add a clear topcoat or do two-tone work.
Is there a guarantee?
Yes. If there’s any defect in the coating caused by our process, such as peeling or improper coverage, we’ll re-coat the part at no cost. Damage from misuse or later wear and tear, like curb rash, isn’t a coating defect.
